You can find different shades of baby amber beads in both traditional and contemporary designs. Amber beads were made by taking a block of amber, cutting it to roughly the right shape and drilling a hole through it.

What to expect when baby is teething?

Teething can cause mild pain, drooling, dry and irritated skin, diarrhea, fever and mouthing behaviours. Some infants will also have fussiness and sleep disturbance. In many babies, these symptoms are transient and really don’t require special treatment. In others, though, they can be troublesome for both infants and parents.

Measurement Guide

Please note that all of our measurements are taken from the end of one clasp to the end of the other. It includes the full item with clasps.

Anklets: The easiest way to measure is with some string. It should fit so that you can slide your little finger under it, but not so it slides off the foot. The string can then be measured next to a ruler to determine the size needed.

Bracelets: Please measure the same way as anklets or measure an existing bracelet you have.

Necklaces: Adults - Measure an existing necklace you own or again use string. Children - Necklaces must not be too long but also not too tight. The easiest way to measure is to take a piece of string, again and measure the desired length around their neck and then measure against a ruler.

For safety the necklace must not be too long so it could come off or get tangled. It is also advisable that they do not chew it.

Why does teething hurt?

Your baby's teeth started developing in the uterus, when teeth buds were formed in her gums. As her teeth develop, they push through her gums, a process which can cause irritation, pain and swelling. While pressure seems to relieve the pain, sucking causes more blood to rush to the swollen areas, making them particularly sensitive. This is why some babies may temporarily reject the link breast or bottle when they are teething.

How long will teething last?

There's no set date when your baby's first tooth will arrive. Most babies start at around six months, but it can happen at any time, from before birth to after her first birthday. Teething could carry on for a year or more. Your little one should have all her milk teeth by the time she's two-and-a-half years old.

What is the right length?

Our amber teething necklaces & anklets are generally one size: amber teething necklaces - 12.6-13 inches or 32-33 cm. / amber teething anklets/bracelets - 5.5-6.0 inches or 14-15 cm  This is generally a good size for most young children, regardless of age. Before you purchase, we advise you to measure the wrist/ankle or neck and then check our product details.

Should you see an effect immediately?

As with many natural products, amber teething necklaces & amber teething anklet bracelets may not work the same for everyone. Some experience an immediate change while others have a more subtle effect that happens gradually. Each persons body makeup is different and results are individual.

Raw or Polished Amber - Which is Better?

RAW Baltic amber is unprocessed, untreated amber that comes from the Baltic Sea region. Raw is the true form of amber...it uses less heat when processed and contains extra layers of succinic acid, which is what relieves pain and helps with all other issues that amber helps heal. Since raw amber does have more succinic acid than polished, raw is considered to be more potent than polished.

Polished Baltic amber has been heated and pressure-treated to make it shine. It still contains succinic acid but in a lower amount.

So which is better? The more amber in contact with your skin, the greater the effects will be, so with this in mind, raw amber may offer you a greater result. However, we have amazing feedback from both our raw and polished designs so we suggest you just choose what you love!

Is there any difference between the colours?

From a therapeutic perspective, there is no difference between the light amber and the dark. From a fashion perspective, the darker colours are popular for boys while the trends for girls tend towards the lighter tones.

Will water damage the necklace or anklet?

We recommend you avoid extended contact with water. With prolonged exposure the thread may become brittle.

What will happen if it gets pulled?

All our products designed to be safe and they are threaded on cotton.  If they are pulled hard or caught in something, they will break.  If they do break, only one bead will come loose because they are knotted between each bead.

When is it safe for my baby to wear the necklace or anklet?

The necklace or anklet may be worn from birth onwards, or as soon as the baby starts teething or showing any signs of pain or discomfort from teething. According to EU Toy safety regulations necklaces and anklets are not suitable for children under 36 months due to small parts. Therefore any amber jewellery for children under three (3) years old should be worn always supervised by an adult to prevent a possible choking hazard. Leaving your child with anything unattended (toys, pencil, toothbrush) might lead to your baby’s harm or disaster. When you put a teething necklace on your baby’s neck you need to be cautious and follow simple rules. That’s not a rocket science but a pure parental responsibility.

How long will my necklace or anklet last?

The teething necklaces and anklets are specifically designed for use with babies and are therefore extremely durable. With the right care, one necklace will last and become a treasured heirloom to pass down in the family.

My baby wants to chew on the necklace or anklet, is this OK?

It will not cause any harm to the child, however the necklace/anklet is made for wearing, not for chewing. The easiest solution is to tuck it under their clothing and the necklace will quickly assume body temperature and the child will ignore it. You should use other teething aids such as chewing rings to meet your baby's increased chewing needs.

Will this necklace solve my baby teething problems on its own?

This necklace is a natural teething aid relief, it will assist with alleviating teething pain and will provide assistance with restlessness, irritability, acidity and drooling.

Are they safe?

As a safety feature there is a knot before and after each bead, so that even in the extremely unlikely event of the string being torn, no beads are lost and there is no risk of choking, necklaces are secured with a traditional screw clasp, not a sterling silver hook and ring. The clasps have been designed to snap under pressure so will release if pulling tight or caught on something.

What is the key ingredient in amber?

The Baltic amber-succinite - is fossilised resin produced by plants 40 – 50 million years ago. In nature the resin would have been used by plants as an antibiotic against viruses, a substance healing cuts or a plaster for wound dressing. Now fossilised, its healing properties have been captured and are release once the resin has been warmed by the skin.
